Wonderful walks

With acres of land and over 40 miles of footpaths to explore up hills, around lakes, through woodland and gardens you'll definitely be spoilt for choice.

Take a look at our four printer-friendly walks below and bring a trail with you before you visit, or use the waymarkers to navigate your way round.

There are also several walking routes to try from each of the estate car parks, each one taking you around a different part of the estate. These walks are all waymarked, and are great for exploring a new part of Cragside everytime you visit.

Nelly's Moss lakes walk

September's Walk of the month; a lovely flat walk around two of Cragside’s historic lakes. This one hour walk along established footpaths is quite easy and level, with some steps. There is, however, an alternate route option for buggies and wheelchairs, just follow the blue waymark discs.

Armstrong trail

You’ll find out more about the history of Cragside as you walk past key features including; the Archimedes Screw, the Iron Bridge and Power House. Follow the green waymark disks along this circular route with established footpaths.

Gun walk

A challenging stroll through the heart of Cragside taking in some of the estates most stunning highlights. This two hour walk leads you over established footpath with some steep climbs and rock steps. Follow the red waymark disks.

Views of Cragside walk

A hilly walk into the middle of the estate, encountering classic views across Cragside and the surrounding countryside. This two mile walk takes you along established footpaths and tracks with some steep climbs. Follow the black waymark discs.
