Spring cleaning in progress...

We started our spring cleaning a little early…our conservation assistant has been hard at working cleaning Penelope, Lady Stamford’s frame. It's a delicate procedure and requires a steady hand! Penelope will be one of the women we focus in the house this year.

Dressing the mannequins...

This week, we had some costume mounting training with a textile technician from Manchester Art Gallery. This is all in preparation for dressing mannequins that will show off some never before seen collection when we open the House on 24 March this year.

More paintings to move...

We’ve been moving even more of our painting collection. This painting is Vere Egerton, who was married to Sir William Booth. She was also the granddaughter and potential heiress of the immensely wealthy Lord Chancellor Egerton – another interesting woman in Dunham's history!
