Christmas at Dinefwr

Young boy decorating a Christmas tree

Make memories that will last a lifetime this Christmas

Write a letter to Santa

Did you know that Father Christmas is a big big fan of Dinefwr and Newton House? In fact he always comes along to our Edwardian Christmas Fayre to talk to all of the little boys and girls who come to enjoy the fun. This December we’re giving children (and their adults) a chance to write directly to Santa, we’ll make sure he gets your letter.

Traditional Gift Wrapping

Ever wondered what it would’ve been like to be an Edwardian at Christmas? At Newton House, the Lord of the manor would have given his servants the gift of long johns for Christmas. Wouldn’t it be strange if your boss bought you underwear this festive season?

We’re all about celebrating a traditional Christmas this year, so we’re taking over the Old Kitchen for traditional gift wrapping workshops!

The workshop will focus on Christmas traditions and include creating your own wrapping paper using different techniques and materials. To complete the wrapping experience we will look at how to make simple bows for the tops of presents. You’re welcome to bring in your Christmas gifts to wrap but if you're a little behind on your Christmas shopping, we’ll give you a box of biscuits to wrap and take away.

Christmas wrapping workshops are only available on 4 and 11 December at 11am, 1pm and 3pm and there's a charge of £4.

Limited availability so please book your place at our Visitor Information Centre.
All participants will be given a 20% voucher off tea and coffee in the tea-rooms when they arrive.

Dressing Newton House for Christmas

Newton House is at its very best at Christmas time. With stunning red dressings on the exterior and our flower ladies working tirelessly indoors making some glorious displays for the windows and not forgetting the roaring fireplace.

We always need a few extra hands to help dress the Christmas tree at the bottom of the sweeping staircase too. Come along and join in.

Lighting up the parkland

For the first time ever we’re lighting up areas of our beautiful parkland National Nature Reserve to showcase how special it is in winter as well as all the other seasons. And by doing this, we’re give you more opportunity to walk our wonderful paths now that the nights are drawing in.

Llandeilo Edwardian Christmas Fayre

28 and 29 November. It’s our biggest event of the year and this time it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before. A mansion and courtyard filled with tasty treats and gift ideas. Enjoy choirs and bands in the inner courtyard and festive entertainment in Newton House. Santa himself will be in his grotto on both days and there's free mulled wine and mince pies for all.

Forget the high street this year and pick up something beautifully handmade or locally sourced at our Christmas Fayre. It’s a great day out for everyone.

Free park and ride from Home Farm. Normal admission prices to enter the Fayre.

Community Carols

18 December. We love being part of the local community of Llandeilo and this is our way of saying thanks for all of your support over the past year. Our Community Carols event is a day of festive fun for everyone, a chance to gather around the grand piano and sing some of our best loved Christmas songs. We do this every year and everyone is invited.
