Art exhibition - Ilse Bogerd & Emma Ritson

Appreciate the artistic talents of two members of the Rufford Old Hall team in this special exhibition of photographs by Ilse Bogerd and paintings by Emma Ritson, presented in the Coach House and Great Hall.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Emma Ritson is a member of our Welcome team, and she has been professionally painting for the past 5 years. She recently graduated from Aberystwyth University with a degree in Fine Art/Film and Television and is now a freelance artist, specialising in oil and watercolour painting. Emma likes to draw inspiration from her local surroundings, which includes Aberystwyth and her home county of Lancashire. She paints in a realism style, largely influenced by the mid 19th century artists of the Hudson River School movement. Her exhibition at Rufford Old Hall includes paintings inspired by the flora and fauna found in Rufford's garden and Formby's nature reserve.

Ilse Bogerd is a member of our Food & Beverage team. She is also a photographer of wildlife and landscapes and can be often found in Rufford’s grounds. She is based in Chorley, Lancashire, where she usually goes for walks. Places like White Coppice, Rivington and Winter Hill are some of the beautiful areas right on her doorstep. Sometimes she tries to photograph something specific, like fungi or insects, but most of the time she likes photographing whatever catches her eye. It’s usually something that she sees in the corner of her eye, a glimpse, that needs her attention.

10% of all sales will be kindly donated to the National Trust, to support our important conservation work at Rufford Old Hall.

What is Gift Aid?

Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.

Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:

  • Gift Aid Admission
  • Standard Admission

If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.

Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:

  Gift Aid Standard
Amount paid by visitor £11.00 £10.00
Tax refund from Government* £2.75 £0.00
Total received by the National Trust £13.75 £10.00

You no longer need to book to visit Rufford Old Hall. The house, garden, woodland and tea room are open Friday-Sunday.
