Come out and play this summer
There’s no better place to ‘come out and play’ than on the Great Lawn. A summer of fun with all the family is what everyone needs, so let us provide the stage, so you can create memories to last a lifetime.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
Throughout the school summer holidays we're encouraging families to get active, explore the garden and discover nature at Powis and Castle.
Enjoy self-led traditional sports and games activities on the Great Lawn including races, badminton, cricket and other ball games or try a game of croquet.
Dig, set, spike! Try your hand at a game of volleyball and see if you’ve got what it takes. Fancy yourself as the next Michael Jordan? Put your slam-dunk skills to the ultimate test with the giant basketball hoop, challenge your siblings to a hurdles race or practice your dribbling technique with a kick-about.
There’s a little bit of something for everyone, so whatever your age, whatever you like doing, we’re confident you’ll have fun getting active with us this summer.
The summer of sports will be running at Powis Castle and Garden from Saturday 23 July to Wednesday 31 August. We can’t wait to see you there.

What is Gift Aid?
Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.
Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:
- Gift Aid Admission
- Standard Admission
If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.
Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.
An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:
|Amount paid by visitor||£11.00||£10.00|
|Tax refund from Government*||£2.75||£0.00|
|Total received by the National Trust||£13.75||£10.00|
