Festival of Archaeology: Roman dyeing with Gaia
Over the Festival of Archaeology experience what life was like at Chedworth in the Roman Times with costumed characters, displays, events and trails!

The dyeing of fibres using an open fire, fire box (to protect any underlying archaeology from heat damage) large copper vessel and a large tripod, using wood and charcoal for the heat.
The dyes which may be used during the display could be;
Indigo (Woad is in short supply)
These are just a couple of the colours which would have been found in Rome and imported into Roman Britain.
You can view Gaia's dyeing display on Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th July.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:
