The park at Blickling has changed much over the centuries but there are remnants of an ancient landscape in the woods and wood banks of park today. The trees planted in the park to realise the early 18th century vision of John Hobart (the second Earl of Buckinghamshire) make up just some of the 1,000 plus ancient and veteran trees at Blickling but there are trees older even than those on wood banks that predate the hall and even the park.
Join our Countryside Manager for a walk in the park to meet some truly remarkable trees, discover some of the habitats that make up the park and the challenges of managing the Blickling countryside for conservation and access within an agricultural system.
We’ll also explore the effects of climate change in the parkland and how that influences the decisions we make in our future plans, as well as how we’re working to discover more about tree pests and diseases.
