What is Gift Aid?

Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.

Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:

  • Gift Aid Admission
  • Standard Admission

If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.

Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:

  Gift Aid Standard
Amount paid by visitor £11.00 £10.00
Tax refund from Government* £2.75 £0.00
Total received by the National Trust £13.75 £10.00

Please note...

Are you visiting us soon? We're currently experiencing issues with our card machines when taking payment on the gates, adding time to your visit when you arrive.

If you have cash available, we are more than happy to receive payment this way.

Remember, if you sign up for National Trust membership, your visit that day is completely free. Our Visitor Welcome team will happily provide more information on your arrival.

The basics

Suitability
Children are welcome with an accompanying adult.
Meeting point
Meet at the Chapel of Saint Mary the Virgin. With limited seating please arrive early to avoid disappointment, once all the seats are full we will be unable to allow further access.
What to bring and wear
Wrap up warm as the Chapel is heated for the care of collections and not the comfort of people and so can be cold at this time of year. Please note no food or drink can be brought into the Chapel.
Accessibility
Access is via the large double west door with ramp access.
Other
We recommend that face coverings are worn inside the Chapel. Seats will be allocated on a first come first served basis, to ensure your party is seated together please all arrive together. Due to the limited space and seating this year we ask that no pushchairs, toys or games are brought to the event. Thank you.
