What is Gift Aid?
Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.
Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:
- Gift Aid Admission
- Standard Admission
If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.
Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.
An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:

Peak ticket applies 2 March - 3 November, Wednesday - Sunday (plus Bank Holiday Mondays); and 7 - 22 December, Saturday and Sunday.
Off-peak ticket applies every day 1 January - 1 March, 4 November - 6 December and 23 - 31 December; also, Mondays (excluding Bank Holidays) and Tuesdays 2 March - 3 November.
Parking is free for National Trust members. If you're not a member the following parking charges apply:
Between 2 March and 3 November:
£7 all day, £4 after 3pm, £2 after 5pm. Coaches £10.
Between 1 January - 1 March and 4 November - 31 December: £4
Access to the Parkland is free all year round.
- Older families welcome
- Assistance dogs are welcome.
- Meeting point
- Meet through the gardens entrance. This walk is in the gardens so you'll need an admission ticket or a valid National Trust Membership card. The walk is free but there's a suggested donation of £2.
- What to bring and wear
- Paths can be muddy, please wear suitable shoes and clothes for being outdoors whatever the weather.
- The Kitchen Garden routes are grass paths and can be very muddy in Spring.
