Archaeological Dig 2019

Help us to welcome Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust (CPAT) back to Chirk Castle for a second year of archaeological investigation in the parkland. Join a guided walk to find out more, or feel free to ask the team questions.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event

Throughout the two week period we will be opening up three dig sites in the parkland.

One will continue our exploration of the 8th-century Scheduled Ancient Monument of Offa's Dyke, the second will search an area of woodland for the site of a building shown on 18-century maps, and the third will look for evidence of the early-18th-century formal gardens following revealing parchmarks last summer.

The dig sites are managed by CPAT with help of National Trust Archaeology volunteers.
