The Beauty of Barrington Court competition

It is a special category within the International Garden Photographer of the Year competition and has its own prizes, and selected winners will form part of the exhibition at Barrington Court in the autumn.

The competition runs from 6 April to 1 August 2022, though you can submit photos that have been taken on the Barrington Court estate anytime within the last three years (no earlier than April 2019).

We would love to see photos that capture the Lyle’s passion for exemplary craftsmanship and detailed design, whether in the gardens, architecture of the buildings or wider landscape. We also welcome photos of the wildlife that makes Barrington Court its home.

There are some rules to bear in mind:

- Anyone over the age of 18 can take part in this free to enter competition, the only exception is National Trust employees and any tutors linked to the competition. National Trust volunteers can enter.

- Photos submitted must have been taken on the Barrington Court estate within the last three years (no earlier than April 2019).

- Please do not submit photo entries that include people in them – instead focus on plants, wildlife and landscapes’.

- You can use any type of camera or mobile phone to create your images, providing that the minimum image requirements are met.

Entrants may submit a maximum of 8 images.

If your entry is lucky enough to be selected as a winner, there are prizes for first, second and third place!

What is Gift Aid?

Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.

Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:

  • Gift Aid Admission
  • Standard Admission

If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.

Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:
