Indigo Dyeing workshop with Anne Griffiths

An introduction to Indigo Dyeing with artist Anne Griffiths at the Heritage and Rural Skills centre in Coleshill.

  • Booking essential

Indigo is one of the oldest dyes known to man and the earliest evidence of its use dates to around 4000 BCE. In Roman times it was imported to Europe from India but it has been used in many other cultures from South America, Japan and Africa.

In this one day workshop you will learn how to set up an indigo vat and then use traditional Japanese shibori techniques, tie dye, folding, clamping and resist, to create a range of beautiful blue fabrics and threads. Includes lunch and refreshments.
