Hops and Harvest

It's back! With plenty of stalls to browse, the estate and garden to explore, and guided tours of the last remaining working hop farm within the National Trust, come celebrate the season with us at Hops and Harvest.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Using 1960s' machinery and the original oasthouses built by Edward Hussey in the 1840s, Little Scotney Farm has one of the few remaining hop gardens in Kent and the only working hop farm in the National Trust. Take a guided walk out to see the hop bines being cut and the hops being dried. Visit the original hop-pickers' huts and see how this essential group of migrant workers lived. Enjoy sampling some of the local brew made using Scotney's hops and browse the wide range of enticing goods from our stallholders.

What is Gift Aid?

Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.

Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:

  • Gift Aid Admission
  • Standard Admission

If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.

Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:

  Gift Aid Standard
Amount paid by visitor £11.00 £10.00
Tax refund from Government* £2.75 £0.00
Total received by the National Trust £13.75 £10.00

*Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

Please note...

A child ticket is valid for anyone aged 5-17 years old. Under 5s are free.

A family ticket is valid for 2 adults and up to 2 children aged 5-17.

A reduced rate family ticket is available for 1 adult and up to 2 children aged 5-17.
