On this informative woodland-walk around Penshaw Monument, quarry and woods, you'll join National Trust ranger Dan, on a journey of discovery.
Learn about the site’s fascinating history through its fauna and flora. Find out about the role of a National Trust ranger, and the work we do to conserve Penshaw Monument and the surrounding areas.
There are two hour-long walking tours Tuesday 31 May, 11-12pm and 12-1pm.
The basics
- Meeting point
- Climb Penshaw Hill and meet at the base of the monument. Please arrive 5 minutes early and allow time to ascend the hill.
- What to bring and wear
- Wear sensible outdoor shoes to climb Penshaw Hill. Wear appropriate outdoor clothing for all weathers.
- Accessibility
- To climb Penshaw Hill is via steps directly from the lane or a path that circles the hill. The trails on Penshaw Hill are undulating woodland trails.
- Other
- Booking not necessary. This is a free walking tour to celebrate Sunderland heritage week.
