Echoes from the Earth; a dance performance and workshop

Echoes from the Earth is a 20 minute accessible promenade piece, inspired by Choreographer Chris Pavia’s experiences in the forests and woods where he grew up in the South Downs National Park.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Join us to experience this unique production by Stopgap Dance, a dance company of disabled and non-disabled creatives.

Following a call from deep below the earth, two lost travellers embark on a journey through the sights and sounds of nature…

Echoes From the Earth invites audiences along for an accessible promenade dance work that weaves through natural spaces. Take a journey through nature following one of the two adventurers, beginning apart, but finding one another as they chase a mysterious echo.

There will be two performances during the day, at 11.30am and 2pm each lasting 20 minutes.

Each performance will be followed by a workshop in the Pleasure Gardens. It will be led by Chris Pavia and his dancers and is open to everyone to join in. The workshop will guide the participants to explore nature and the outdoors and give an insight into Chris’s creative process.

What is Gift Aid?

Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.

Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:

  • Gift Aid Admission
  • Standard Admission

If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.

Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:

  Gift Aid Standard
Amount paid by visitor £11.00 £10.00
Tax refund from Government* £2.75 £0.00
Total received by the National Trust £13.75 £10.00
