Guided countryside walks

Book your place on a group walk in the heart of rural Northamptonshire with our volunteer guides

  • Booking essential
  • Free event (admission applies)

On the second Thursday of every month from June to October, come and explore our surrounding countryside, enjoy the fantastic views and get out in the fresh air with us. This 6 mile walk will pass through local public footpaths, over fields, including uneven countryside ground and stiles.

Please wear stout walking footwear and come prepared for the weather.

Older children accompanied by an adult are welcome but unfortunately the walk is not suitable for children under 11 or dogs.

This event is free but please booking your place in advance is essential. Places on this walk are very limited.

Meet in the Canons Ashby car park ready to walk at 9.55. The walk should end before 1pm depending on the speed of the walkers.

Please note, walks may need to be cancelled at short notice in the event of poor weather or other unavoidable issues.

Booking in advance is essential, although booking is free. If you are intending to come into the property afterwards you will need to show your membership card or pay for admission.

What is Gift Aid?

Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.

Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:

  • Gift Aid Admission
  • Standard Admission

If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.

Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:

  Gift Aid Standard
Amount paid by visitor £11.00 £10.00
Tax refund from Government* £2.75 £0.00
Total received by the National Trust £13.75 £10.00

*Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

Please note...

Free entry for National Trust members.
