Lights & Liminality: Christmas at Basildon Park

Experience the Wintry Woodland at Basildon Park - both indoors and out from 17 Nov - 5 Jan (except 24 & 25 Dec).

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

As the world has changed around us over the last year, we have been suspended in a liminal space. This season at Basildon Park we celebrate the opportunity to let our senses lead us through this transition. We invite you to discover new ways to explore light and space as we usher nature indoors and enjoy the sensory delights of Winter.

This year the house will be transformed into a winter wonderland, with a forest of pine trees adorning the Staircase Hall and the Dining Room transformed into an indoor terrarium. As you step inside you’ll be transported into a liminal space, where nature fills the interior of the main showrooms. With the sounds of woodland animals, the feel of trees brushing past you and the smell of dried oranges and cinnamon, 'Lights & Liminality' will be a delight for the senses.

What is Gift Aid?

Most of our places run the Gift Aid on Entry scheme at their admission points.

Under this scheme, if you're not a member you have the choice of two entry tickets:

  • Gift Aid Admission
  • Standard Admission

If the place runs Gift Aid on Entry, we'll offer you a clear choice between the Gift Aid Admission prices and the Standard Admission prices at the admission point. It's entirely up to you which ticket you choose.

Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the National Trust as shown below:

  Gift Aid Standard
Amount paid by visitor £11.00 £10.00
Tax refund from Government* £2.75 £0.00
Total received by the National Trust £13.75 £10.00

*Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.

Please note...

Free entry for National Trust members. Under 5's go free.
