Get crafty

Ready to test out your crafting skills? You can build your own bird box at Souter Lighthouse in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, and take it home to help your feathered friends near you. You can also try out lots of '50 things to do before you're 11¾' activities. Try your hand at no. 4 at Speke Hall in Liverpool where there will be den building in the woodland, where you can get creative with natural materials.

Go wild in the great outdoors

Nature is your ultimate playground this half term. Let off some steam at lots of natural play areas such as Wolf's Den at Erddig in Wales. You could wind your way through the maze at Speke Hall in Liverpool. Or, enjoy lots of other natural play areas at Rowallane Garden, Castle Ward and Mount Stewart in Northern Ireland. As the plants wake up from their winter sleep, at Trenwainton Garden in Cornwall you can follow the Wakey-wakey trail to spot early signs of spring.

Fun for rainy days

Don't let the rain stop you from having a great time. At Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire, head to the Discovery Centre to learn about the history of the park and the wildlife that lives there. Warm up in the glasshouse at Dyffryn Gardens in Vale of Glamorgan, where you can see tropical plants from all over the world. There are lots of toys and activities in the Little Room at Standen House in West Sussex to keep little ones busy when the weather turns.
