Great Orme search for a farmer
We are offering our iconic £1m coastal farm for just a pound a year. The keys and the future of a precious landscape could be yours. Here's how to apply.
- How can I find out more about the farm?
Details about the vision for Y Parc, descriptions and photographs of the land, farmhouse and farm buildings, the field schedule, date for the viewing day, application form, overview of the tenancy agreement and other matters affecting the property are all available in the Letting Particulars Pack*.
- Can I visit the farm?
There is currently no public access to Parc Farm itself. There is a viewing day for prospective applicants very soon. To secure a place at the viewing day you will need to obtain a Letting Particulars Pack*.
- How can I apply?
Applicants will need to complete a standard application form included with the Letting Particulars Pack*. The form requires applicants to provide details of previous farming and conservation experience, provide their proposals for managing the farm, and explain why they have chosen to apply.
- What’s the deadline?
The viewing day is imminent so potential applicants will need to obtain their Letting Particulars Pack* and safeguard their place on the day as soon as possible.
The closing date for completed applications is Friday 10th June 2016 at 12:00 noon.
- How will you decide on the right tenant?
A National Trust panel of five representing the different elements of wildlife and nature, food and farming, visitor engagement and long term sustainability will shortlist during the week commencing 13th June.
Interviews will then be held on 5th July with a panel of representatives from the National Trust and partner organisations.
Barring the need for any second interviews the successful tenant will be appointed soon after, and will be able to pick up the keys to the farm at the beginning of October.
- I’m not a farmer / I don’t work in conservation, can I still apply?
We are looking for an individual with good farming experience, excellent shepherding skills and a genuine desire to make a difference for wildlife and nature through a dedicated focus on nature conservation and habitat management. You will also need to be a real ‘people’ person, and be enthusiastic about working with the many thousands of visitors to the Great Orme and all our key partners.
Some elements of the application process may be filmed for broadcast purposes.
A non-refundable fee of £15.00 is charged per Letting Particulars Pack to cover production and postage costs.
