Here are some answers to the most frequently asked questions about Highertown Farm Campsite.

Is there a reception?

No, the site is run by our rangers, who will pop by to say hello. When you arrive please use the self-registration box to get your tent tag. If you haven’t pre-paid please post payment in the box at the entrance to the field. Find yourself a suitable pitch. We don’t have fixed pitches so find a space where you will have a minimum of a six metre gap from other tents.

Where is the nearest food shop?

Lansallos is a very quiet village with no shops or pubs. Our friendly local grocer pops round with his mobile shop a few times a week in the summer months and there are shops in the nearby villages at Polruan, Polperro, Pelynt and Lanreath, and if you want to head for the bright lights, then you can go to Looe or Fowey. On the first Saturday of the month there is a farmers' market at Whitecross village hall too.

Where is the nearest pub/restaurant?

There are pubs close by at Bodinnick, Polruan, Polperro and Pelynt too if you fancy a night off camp cooking or a cool drink after a hard day's relaxing.

Where is the nearest cash point?

There are banks and cashpoints in Fowey. Some of the shops in surrounding villages have cash machines but they may charge a fee.

Do you take bookings?

Yes, you can book online.

Do you accept dogs?

Highertown is a dog-friendly campsite and all well-behaved dogs are welcome at no additional charge. They must be kept on a lead at all times and exercised away from other campers. Please pick up after your dogs right away.

Dogs are allowed on the Lansallos beach all year.

Do you hire freeze packs?

We have a freezer in the barn where you can freeze your own ice packs.

Where are the best local beaches?

Follow the sign-posted footpath past the church and down the track to Lansallos Cove, about a 10 minute walk. Along the coast from Lansallos is Parsons Cove just off the coast path and then down a steep path to the beach.

Lantic Bay is just over two miles away and Talland Bay about five miles.

Where are some good walks for families?

There are countless walks starting from the campsite including some which are suitable for families.

The 4.5 mile dog friendly route through Frogmore Farm offers the perfect mix of countryside, coastal path and coves. You'll find lots more information and inspiration in the barn.

Can we go fishing nearby?

There are sea-fishing marks from the coves all along this stretch of coast, the closest being ¾ mile from the campsite in Lansallos Cove.

Where is the nearest bus stop?

Bus 481 runs between Polruan and Looe stopping in the village.

Do you have laundry facilities?

There is a washing machine in the all-weather barn. It is £2.00 per wash - please bring your own washing powder (£1 and £2 coins only).

Do you take credit card payments?

Yes, we accept most credit and debit cards for pre-bookings online or via our office. Onsite payment can be made by debit or credit card or by cash.

Are you open all year round?

No, we open just before Easter until the end of October each year.

Can I have a fire or barbecue?

We don't allow fires, but you are welcome to use a barbecue as long as it is above ground.

Can under 18s stay at the site?

Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Do I have to pay for the showers?

Yes, the showers are 40p for 6 minutes (£1 and 20 pence coins only).
