We like everyone who stays at our campsite to have an enjoyable time, so we politely ask that you observe a few simple rules.

Arrival times

If you're arriving at our campsites without booking in advance, we recommend you aim to arrive at the beginning of reception opening times to secure a pitch, or to phone ahead for information.

Visitors must register at reception (before pitching) during the following hours:

Peak season (May half-term/July - August)

Saturday - Thursday: 3pm - 7pm
Friday: 3pm - 9pm
 
Please note arrival time for glamping bookings (Safari Tents, Tree Tents and Lake View Cabin) is from 4pm.

These hours are applicable for both advanced bookings and first come, first served visitors.

Pre-booked pitches

If you arrive before 3pm, it may be possible to check in provided that your camping pitch or accommodation is available.  However, we cannot guarantee this as staff may still be carrying out cleaning and maintenance duties.

If circumstances beyond your control prevent you from arriving within reception times, please contact the campsite on 015394 32039 and staff will do their best to assist.

Departure times

Please leave by 11am on your day of departure. If you wish to stay an extra night, please ask at reception before 10am (reception is open from 8am every day).

Minimum stay

There is a minimum two night stay at weekends and for all advanced bookings. A three night minimum stay applies at Bank Holidays.

Parking

To protect the natural beauty of the site, parking is available in designated areas away from tent pitches, but near enough so it’s not too difficult to carry your camping gear from your car. There are a few wheelbarrows dotted around on site for your use.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome on site (maximum of two per party), but please notify us at the time of booking. Keep them on a lead at all times and please clean up after your dog, promptly. A charge will be incurred for each dog.

Dogs are not allowed inside pods or safari tents except for assistance dogs.

Quiet please

We ask that our visitors are considerate to their neighbours at all times, but ‘quiet please’ between 10pm and 7am.

Pitches

Please leave at least six metres between tents. 

Maximum occupancy

The maximum number of adults allowed in any party is four. This maximum applies whether you book together or separately. The only exception is for official groups such as Duke of Edinburgh or Scouts.

Pods are limited to two adults plus one child for a standard pod and two adults plus three children for a family pod unless otherwise agreed.

Safari tents are limited to a maximum of 4 adults. Maximum of 6 people including children for a large safari tent and 4 people including children for a small safari tent.

Tree tents are limited to a maximum of 3 people.

Clubs and societies 

We may be able to accommodate any officially recognised groups at certain times of year. The organiser should get in touch and provide some proof of group status when booking and to complete a booking form. It's really helpful to have the detail of how many campers in the party and the number of tents and vehicles so that we can identify the best spot for your needs.

All group bookings must be made via the booking office and cannot be made online. Call our Bookings Team, Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm, on 01539 432733 or email your requirements. Please note that your group's booker must be at least 18 years of age.

Fires

For obvious reasons, campfires are not allowed, but barbecues are permitted, provided they are raised off the ground. Ask the campsite team for stones if necessary.

Safety

Cooking inside tents or pods is NOT permitted and can be lethal due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Smoking

Smoking is not allowed in or around the pods.

Special requests

Special requests, including requests for adjacent camping pitches, must be indicated to us at the time of booking. We will always do our best to honour them but they cannot be guaranteed.

Complaints and feedback

Every reasonable care will be taken to ensure that the camping pitch, pod or bothy and also site amenities are presented to a high standard. Should you find any cause for complaint, please immediately contact one of the campsite staff, so that reasonable steps can then be taken to rectify the problem. National Trust will not normally make any refunds in respect of complaints made after the Visitor’s departure from the campsite if the Visitor did not make the problem or complaint known to staff during the Visitor’s stay. If you supplied an email address at the time of booking, a survey will be emailed to you for your comments after your stay. Alternatively, a comment form may be completed and left at the campsite reception. All complaints made after the Visitor’s departure should be made in writing by post or email to:
