A well-known TV presenter, whose latest series My Family and the Galapagos is currently screening on Channel 4, Monty is a former Royal Marines officer, who left the forces to pursue a career in expeditions, travel journalism and marine biology. In 2002 he led a multi-national team to the discovery of a sunken city off the Indian coast, and has since spearheaded multiple adventures around the globe.
Best known for his three BBC2 series Great Escapes, where he lived on the west coasts of Scotland and Ireland with his dog Reuben. He has presented numerous multi-award-winning documentaries, including Great Barrier Reef for the BBC, Lost Worlds for the Discovery Channel and WWII's Great Escapes: The Freedom Trails for Channel 4.
Based in South Devon with his wife Tamsyn and their two children, Isla and Molly, Monty is a proud advocate for the local area and the myriad outdoor adventures that can be explored here. Monty will lead a free shore walk on the morning of Sunday 7 October, and deliver a talk from the main stage a 2pm on the same day, offering festival goers the opportunity to meet a local legend and hear his extraordinary tales of adventure from around the globe.
