Purbeck Association

Visitors walking on Old Nick's Ground, near Old Harry Rocks, at sunset, in the Purbeck Countryside, Dorset.

The Purbeck Association was founded in 1987 to promote the work of the National Trust in Purbeck and, through social activities, make supporting the Trust more enjoyable.

We have around 400 members living mainly in and around Purbeck but anyone wishing to support the work of the Trust in this area is welcome to join.

We have a year-round programme of outings to a wide variety of destinations, social activities including quizzes, meals, boules and barbecues.

We run one- two- and five- night holidays. Through the winter we have monthly talks.

The funds that we raise are used to pay for work on land the National Trust looks after in Purbeck, including Corfe Castle, Studland Bay and large areas of surrounding countryside.

In recent years we have provided funds for new wooden benches, stone waymarkers on the South West Coast Path and a viewing platform.

As well as physical improvements we’ve helped fund environmental research studies.
