Sport for sceptics: Gibside, Tyne and Wear

Visitors with the Orangery in the distance, at Gibside, Tyne and Wear

Gibside is a Georgian 'grand design' on a spectacular scale, a stunning 18th-century landscape garden and haven for nature near Gateshead that is being restored after centuries of decline.

We've teamed up with Sports England to offer you a range of exciting ways to get sporty at Gibside - from running and cycling to prambles, volleyball and much more. If you cycle to Gibside you'll get a free tea when you buy a snack at our café, but unfortunately we don't allow cycling around the estate.
During school holidays you can join a free have-a-go team sports session with our trained coaches. There's a beginners’ running group and on certain dates you can have a go at archery too.

Where to stay

From cosy Mongolian yurts, to camping weekends and group accommodation, Gibside has got it all.
