Get the family together this summer and tick off 10 of our wild adventures in South Wales. Go wild at Dyffryn’s outdoor play area, become an explorer at Tredegar or go on a seashore safari at Stackpole. Share your wild adventures with us using #NTWildAdventures.

1. Unpack a new adventure at Tredegar House 

Get closer to nature with a handy one-stop shop for young explorers at Tredegar House. Learn how to use a compass, go pond dipping, scour the treetops for birds and identify the creepy crawlies in the undergrowth.

2. Hop, skip and jump at Dyffryn Gardens 

Hidden in the arboretum you’ll find Dyffryn’s new wild play area - The Log Stack, covering over half an acre and built entirely from Dyffryn wood. You can jump along stepping stones, build a tepee den and balance along high and low beams.

3. Enjoy a summer of celebration at Llanerchaeron 

This summer there will be a host of activities to celebrate the powerful women that made Llanerchaeron the beautiful estate you see today. There will be themed activities in the garden every Monday, Petticoats of Power trails on Tuesdays and 50 things activities on Fridays.

4. Follow the new wildlife trail at Dinefwr 

Get the family together and head out on Dinefwr’s new wildlife trail this summer. The landscape was shaped by Lady Cecil Rice; one of the most influential women to ever have lived on the estate. The trail follows in her footsteps as she nurtured the landscape, encouraged wildlife and become the Mother of Nature.

5. Go on a Seashore Safari at Stackpole 

Grab your safari map from Stackpole and head out on a seashore safari to Broad Haven South and Mere Pool Valley. Follow the map along an easy walking route taking in the beach, dunes and valley behind. Look out for waymarkers along the route indicating nature activities to try and things to look out for such as damsel and dragonflies (starts 18 July).

Have a go pond dipping at Colby Woodland Garden

6. Unleash your explorer at Colby Woodland Garden 

Go on an expedition at Colby as you tackle the explorer trail. During your quest, you'll trek through woodland and wildflower meadow as you search for resident wildlife. That’s not all; make sure you get stuck into the 50 things activities from pond dipping to bug hunting. Complete the trail and you'll be rewarded with a prize.

7. Join a Big Beach Clean Challenge 

Help do your bit for the coast by taking part in our Big Beach Clean Challenge in Pembrokeshire and Gower. Marine pollution is a growing problem as litter on Britain’s beaches have more than doubled in the last 15 year. Join us at a different beach every month to help keep our coast beautiful, for ever, for everyone.

8. Take on a sealife quest at Rhossili 

Are you visiting Rhossili this summer? We’ve an action-packed summer planned – discover the amazing creatures lurking beneath the water in our rock pooling sessions, take part in our ‘Love our beach’ event every Monday or join in the August Wednesday walks.

9. Go underground at Dolaucothi Gold Mines 

Dolaucothi Gold Mines is steeped in Roman archaeology and offers a rare insight into the extraction of precious Welsh gold. Go on an underground guided tour where you’ll follow in the footsteps of bygone miners and discover the harsh realities of working underground. You can also go on your own quest for gold by trying your luck in our gold panning troughs – anything you find you can keep!

10. Play Victorian style at Aberdulais 

Every weekday throughout the summer holidays Aberdulais will be running self-led activities for all the family to enjoy. A chance to sample Victorian life and see how families spent time together. Have a go at playing hopscotch, quoits or see who's got the skill for cup and ball.
