We are looking forward to welcoming our campers back to Waterclose Meadows. Please read this page carefully before you visit and we’ll keep you regularly updated on any changes.

Check-in

As always, our friendly Visitor Welcome Team will be on site or nearby ready to welcome you while our reception remains closed. We’ll have your arrival details ready for you outside the campsite reception.

It’s important that you arrive between 1pm and 8pm only, and that you pitch in the marked area on your welcome map to make sure we can safely space out campers across the site. If you are staying in a camping pod, please take a look at separate check-in times below.

You’ll find a rear-view mirror hanger in your welcome pack. This will clearly show us that you’re staying on the campsite and make it easy for you to get in and out of the site during your stay with us.

Late arrivals after 4pm

If you haven’t already, please let us know if you’ll be arriving after 4pm and before 8 pm so we can make sure that you have the correct entrance code to enter the property gate and have your pitching information prepared ready for you to collect outside our reception. If you find your going to arrive late unexpectedly, please contact us on the out of hours mobile 07483 300944 after 4pm.

Pod bookings

Arrival from 3pm
Departure by 10am

You will find all the information in your welcome folder on arrival.

Facility Block

We ask that face coverings are worn whenever possible while using the shared indoor facilities.

The main toilets and showers will be closed for cleaning, from 10.30am – 12.30pm. We ask that no showers are taken in the family and accessible room while the main toilets are closed. You’ll find our family room toilet is open and cafe toilets will be open when cleaning is in progress.

Sanitiser points are set up for all shared use areas.

Chemical waste facilities

You can find our chemical waste facility for tourers, caravans and campervans at the back of the toilet block.

Motorhome disposal point

There is a drive-in area for motorhomes to deposit waste water in front of the main water point to the right of the facilities block.

Laundry and drying facilities

We have coin-operated machines for washing and drying in the  facility block and a small freezer for freezer blocks. The laundry room  has a noticeboard where you will find local services information such as bus timetables and tourist information leaflets.

Washing-up areas

To help keep your pots and pans sparkling we have a semi-enclosed pot washing area in the facility block.

The Mill

The Mill is now open where you can see the water wheel turning once more and enjoy a guided tour - you will need to book these now as visits are  pre-bookable only. You’ll be able to find out more about the Mill and book through the Houghton Mill website.

Please note tours will only run from 2 days a week in low season and five days a week in the peak season so make sure you are aware of the days it is closed so as not to miss out.

If you are unable to book, ask one of the team and they will be able to find out if there are cancellation or spaces available for you during your stay. Bookings are released on the Friday for the following week.

Too find out more about the Mill and its opening times and learn more about the area visit the Houghton Mill website

Please note - opening times have changed and tours of the Mill are now pre-bookable only.

Tearoom

Government guidance allowing, our tearoom will be open daily between 10am - 4pm and will be offering a simple takeaway service.

The riverside area

We have limited access to the riverside. As a result, this usually busy area has become very tranquil. It is still possible to launch kayaks, canoes and paddleboards from a small launch area. And you’ll now find there is more green open space for you to enjoy next to the campsite with alternative access areas to the river  found at other spots nearby if needed. We do not encourage swimming in the water by the mill as automated sluice gates are in operation.

Outstanding payments

If you have any outstanding payments, one of the team will call before arrival or during your stay to settle this payment. Office hours are 10am-11am and 3pm-4pm.
