Wicken Fen shelters
Wicken Fen, is a beautiful and diverse place to stay and explore. One of Europe's most important wetlands, it supports an abundance of wildlife. The nature resrve is about 7 miles away, there are more than 9000 species, including a spectacular array of plants, birds and dragonflies.
Wicken Fen campsite is designed for wild camping, this means that you do not need to bring your tent.
Head on foot to the seclusion of the campsite, the area is equipped with four open fronted shelters which each sleep up to six adults or eight children.
There is a fire pit (please bring your own fire wood) and basic eco-toilet. Enjoy the seclusion of wild camping, on a quiet evening you can enjoy the wildlife the area has to offer.
This campsite is perfect for groups such as Scouts and D of E providing a chance to experience nature.
Please note that this wild camping experience can only be accessed by walking or cycling to the site. There is a two mile walk from Anglesey Abbey, please inform the staff prior to arrival if you wish to park at the Abbey. The walking route to the campsite involves walking across fields. For cyclists, the site is close to NCN Route 11 - The Lodes Way. If you have any access requirements please contact the office prior to arrival for further information.
