Gibside Market

Plants on a market stall

Gibside Market is a great place to buy fresh, seasonal food direct from local farmers and bakers. Why not come and see for yourself?

Every first and third Saturday of the month, 10am to 4pm, Gibside Market is a great place to buy fresh, seasonal food direct from local businesses.

As well as farmers, bakers and cheese-makers, you'll find quality handmade crafts - from artwork to jewellery, soap to honey, plant stalls and photography.

Best of all, it's free parking and free entry into Market Place. Plus, this is a market where you can feel really good about making a purchase, every penny spent at Gibside cafe or shop goes straight back into conserving this special place.

(Normal admission charges apply for remains for wider estate.)

Live music, great shopping atmosphere

From jazz troupes to brass bands, folk groups to choirs - shop against the backdrop of local live music in the market place on most market days.

Meet the Makers

Buy fresh seasonal food and crafts from local producers. Pick up some tasty treats and take home unique gifts. Everything from sausages made at a local farm to handmade soaps made at Gibside (and using ingredients from the Walled Garden).

There’s a wide range of things to buy and it’s a great opportunity to meet the owners of these businesses to find out more about their products.

Join Gibside Community Farm

Some of Gibside's farmland is now used by local people who want to grow their own vegetables and sell them to the community as part of a veg box scheme.
