Second-hand bookshop at Greyfriars

We're extremely proud of the second-hand bookshop at Greyfriars. Mary, our dedicated bookshop volunteer, always does a fantastic job sorting and presenting the eclectic mix of titles donated to us on a regular basis.

Much like the novella or short story, understated and charming, a great deal is achieved with the limited space inside the bookshop. It is often decorated with a display or theme which Mary herself has thought up and created for visitors to take inspiration from while they browse.

Perfectly situated within our peaceful walled garden, visitors are welcome to pick out a book, relax and settle down with something delicious from the Old Oak Cafe, and any bookshop purchases can be made at Visitor Reception. With a selection of winning titles, comforting classics, helpful local history and children's books, and with prices starting from as little as 10p, there is plenty to choose from and many bargains to be had.

In 2018, the second-hand bookshop at Greyfriars raised a fantastic £2506.56. This money will enable us to fund future conservation projects at the property. Thank you for choosing to buy books from Greyfriars and helping us look after this special place!
