Dog-friendly days out

A visitor walking his dog at Hardcastle Crags

We love well-behaved dogs and welcome them, and their owners, to explore all that Hardcastle Crags has to offer.

With over 15 miles of footpaths to explore, Hardcastle Crags is a dog-walkers paradise. Whether you fancy a short stroll through the woodland or a challenging hike up the valley, there’s lots for you and your four-legged friend to enjoy.

Please be respectful to other visitors and wildlife by making sure you keep your dogs under control, and in sight at all times. Duiring this time of year, be mindful of grazing livestock and keep your dog on a lead when approaching farmer's land, especially at the edge of the woodland.

It's not just the woodland that welcomes dogs at Hardcastle Crags. Muddy paws are welcome inside the mill and cafe too, if you'd like to rest and refuel after a day exploring. Cosy up next to the stove and warm up after your woodland walk. There's plenty of outdoor seating too, if the sun is shining.
