China Mermaid's retro café at Hardy Monument

We are rather excited about the new catering van at the monument this season. The China Mermaid retro café is owned and run by Denny Baldwin, who serves up tea, coffee and delicious locally produced food from a retro caravan.

Catering with a difference

In the heart of Dorset's beautiful coastal countryside, Hardy Monument is a remarkable place. So it's only fitting that its catering facilities are a little bit special. What could be better than a 1970s retro caravan serving simple locally produced food and drink?

Celebrating local produce

At China Mermaid retro café you can eat local food served on retro china while drinking in those amazing views.

Owner Denny Baldwin serves morning coffee, ploughman's lunches, cream teas and cakes.

Denny says: 'Whether it's warm and sunny or there is a coastal breeze, there will always be a warm welcome at the China Mermaid café.'

Celebrating local produce

China Mermaid is proud to use local and lactalbumin suppliers.

Experience for yourself

The super cool catering van can be found at the National Trust car park at Hardy's Monument. It's perfectly situated to make the most of the panoramic views of the Jurassic Coast and Thomas Hardy's Dorset.

Opening times*: Wednesday - Sunday (plus Bank Holiday Mondays) 11am-4pm from Good Friday through to September. *Weather permitting
