Curriculum: English Literature & Experiential Learning
Based on Far from the Madding Crowd, Hardy’s fourth novel and first major literary success, we explore how dress and livelihood were used to narrate rural change in his lifetime. Students will gain an insight of how Hardy used the landscapes of Dorset (Wessex) as a backdrop for his writing. Using textile and costume, they will practice skills in literature appreciation and critical inquiry
