Feeding the Hardys

Hardy was born and grew up in the decade later known as the 'Hungry Forties'. In spite of this, his books are filled with descriptions of the good hearty meals of rural Dorset and the family managed to scrape by through his mother's thrift and his father's stonemasonry business. From June to August, there will be a series of displays, demonstrations and talks on 'Feeding the Hardys' at Hardy's Cottage.
