Volunteer in West Exmoor

We're looking for volunteers to help us care for the special landscapes and wildlife of West Exmoor.

Volunteer and help us look after West Exmoor

The West Exmoor National Trust team work hard to care for 4500 acres of varied habitat, including woodland, farmland and coastal heath. However with only four Rangers we always appreciate helping hands.

Our work is varied so there is something for everybody, from scrub clearance which can be very physically demanding to monitoring the varied wildlife that lives here, which is often less arduous. You could learn the traditional art of Devon Banking to help us restore the miles of boundaries we have across our farm, or get involved pruning our apple orchards.

No skill is needed as all training will be provided; just bring some enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

If you do want to join us, our volunteer group meets every Thursday. If you have any questions, want more information, or fancy coming along please contact Dan Cameron (Heddon Valley) or Jack Ward (Kipscombe Farm and Watersmeet estate) or call the Rangers' office on 01598 763556. You can also register your interest online.

" I really enjoy the work and being part of the team but, most of all, I have loved getting to know this beautiful place I live in better and learning about how the land is used and managed, and the varied habitats it supports."
- Gudrun Limbrick, Volunteer Ranger
