Enjoy some green therapy when you stay in this Grade-I listed mansion, set amongst the glorious gardens of Acorn Bank. The one-bedroom apartment is based on the first floor of the 17th-century mansion and offers uninterrupted views over the surrounding countryside. Its highlight is its double-bedroom, where original stone walls have been preserved and antique furnishings add to its historic charm.
You’ll have direct access to the woodland walk along Crowdundle Beck, which is full of wild flowers and beautiful trees, to the partially restored Acorn Bank watermill. The nearby Eden Valley offers peaceful riverside walks, welcoming market towns and is an area rich in culture, myths and legends.
Bank Wood is ideally located in between The Lake District and the Pennines. You can drive to the mountain range at Skiddaw in less than an hour. Or you could explore the ‘backbone of England’, the Pennine Way. The National Trail is 267 miles long and follows moorland through the North Pennines AONB.
