About The Showman's WagonHidden away in blissful (but top secret) locations on the Isle of Purbeck, this beautiful handbuilt showman’s wagon is a truly special place to stay.
From the moment you see it, this wonderful handcrafted painted wagon with its luxury feel will capture your heart. And wherever you find it, when you stay you’re guaranteed a stunning setting with glorious views of the sea, heathland or rolling Dorset countryside. If you can tear yourselves away from the gorgeous interior then nearby there’s miles of stunning coastline and sandy beaches to explore as well.
The locations you’ll find it in may be a secret, but you’ll love the small, yet perfectly-formed scale of this wagon and all the incredible attention to detail in it. Head up the steep wooden steps and open the stable-style door into the kitchen area and you’ll realise how special this space is - with light pouring in through the windows and rooflights, and careful design that maximises the space everywhere you look. In the bespoke kitchen you’ll find everything you need, including a Belfast sink, gas oven and pretty duck egg blue units. Moving through to the bedroom, there’s a proper double bed, as well as a separate shower and toilet and sink just off the bedroom. Head back through the kitchen to relax in the living room with its woodburner, and an L shape sofa that’s just right for curling up after a day of outdoor adventures.
Wherever the show wagon is when you stay (no spoilers here!) you’re guaranteed to be close to the beautiful Studland beach and near the inner harbour at Poole. You’ll also be able to whizz onto the nearby cycle path with miles of paths across the Isle of Purbeck to discover. Wildlife lovers will relish the chance to see various types of migrating birds as well as owls, stags and deer from the wagon. And if you’d rather someone else made your dinner or poured you a drink, there are two pubs and a cafe within a 10-15 minute walk.
Although the Showman’s wagon should keep you entranced throughout your stay, if you do venture further afield, then you’ll discover the incredible fossil-filled Jurassic coast around half an hour away by car. Buzzy Poole and Bournemouth both offer shops and restaurants to wander or pause in, or you could explore Abbotsbury Swannery or the Tank Museum. National Trust places nearby include Brownsea Island, home to beautiful red squirrels and the stunning house at Kingston Lacy. You’ll also have free entry to Corfe Castle when you stay at Showman’s - the funds from your holiday go towards looking after other wonderful places like this.
