About Wicken Fen Wild Camp

Camp wild in the outdoors, away from it all.

Wicken Fen nature reserve is the National Trust's oldest nature reserve, it is one of Europe's most important wetlands and supports a variety of wildlife. The Fen is also embarked on an ambitious long-term plan to expand the reserve on a landscape scale. The Wild Camp site is located on one of the parcels of land now owned by the National Trust as part of this vision. Look out for badgers, bats and barn owls here, or head across the fenland landscape to see wetland species at Wicken Fen and other areas now part of the larger reserve.

This campsite provides exclusive accomodation for groups and families to rent the whole site and spend a wild night out in the open. Only accessible by walking or cycling, stay on the secluded site with open-fronted log shelters, no tent is required. There are four shelters, each sleeps 6 adults or 8 children. Spend a night getting back to basics; on site there is a camp fire and an eco-loo,  you'll need to bring your own water. Wicken Fen wild camping is ideal for scout groups, D of E groups and adventurous families!

About the Acorn rating

We have applied a 1-5 acorn rating to each cottage to be used only as a guide that covers location, style of interior and facilities you may be looking for. The range runs from 1 Acorn at a more basic level such as Bird How which due to its stunning yet remote location doesn’t have a caretaker through to 5 Acorns at the highest level – such as Shute Barton.

Cottage pricing is not judged on the Acorn rating alone and as all our cottages are of an individual nature we recommend that all factors are considered when making your choice.
