About Dry-stone walling in Upper Wharfedale

Learn the traditional skill of dry-stone walling working alongside experienced rangers.

Have you ever thought it would be great to try dry-stone walling? Now’s the time to give it a go. With help from experienced rangers, you might be building field boundaries or woodland retaining walls. We’ll give you all the training and support you need, plus a lovely location and plenty of insights into the hay meadows, woodlands and moorland that will be surrounding you.

About the accommodation

The accommodation is located on the edge of the village of Buckden and at the foot of 702m high Buckden Pike. It is a 200-year-old converted barn with a large living room with open views up to Wharfedale into Langstrothdale. It is an ‘upside down’ building with the living room, kitchen and one bunk room on the first floor and two bunk rooms and bathroom on the ground floor. Each bunk room has two bunk beds. One is en suite, the other two share a bathroom/toilet. Town Head Bunkhouse does not have a garden next to the building but there is a National Trust picnic area with a built-in barbecue just 100 yards away.
