About Hedge-laying
Bring new life to old hedges in the Lake District.Ever fancied having a go at hedgelaying? A well-laid hedge not only looks good but helps to encourage new growth and provides an important habitat for lots of small birds, mammals and insects. Using a combination of traditional hand tools and teamwork you’ll help to ensure there’s not only a lovely hedge for wildlife, but you’ll also have a great sense of satisfaction at the end.
You don’t need any previous experience, just a good level of fitness and a willingness to learn new skills. At the heart of the holiday there’s a strong commitment to a conservation purpose: recognising and protecting the special places and ways of working that define the Lake District.
