Top Secret Hughenden
Every day, 10am-4pm
Join the new recruits in the World War Two operation at Hughenden this summer. You'll be issued with a Hillside Heroes briefing and take on top secret work. There are co-ordinates to decipher, secret codes to unlock and bomber airplanes to spot. Shhh, loose lips sink ships!
Hillside Heroes Dossier, £2 from the Visitor Welcome Kiosk. Suitable for all ages.
Every Tue and Wed 10.30am-4pm from 30 Jul to 27 Aug.
Retro crafting fun in Hughenden's studybase. Celebrating the make do and mend world of 1940s Britain, join in with one of our handmade crafting workshops where you'll get to make rag-rug squares and miniature war-time airplanes.
£3 per child. All materials supplied. Suitable for children aged 5-12 years.
Every Fri in Aug,10.30am-12noon
Join our Ranger team and explore Hughenden’s secret countryside. You’ll have fun learning about the ancient woods and finding out about the people that used to live in them, the 'bodgers'. Meet the bodgers themselves, see their skills in action and help to build a night-time shelter for them in the woods.
£4 per child. Ideal for children aged 5-10 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult, one adult ticket free. Booking essential via the website.
Big Tree Climb
Thu 1, 15 and 29 Aug, 10am-5pm
The ultimate summertime adventure; reach new heights in one of Hughenden’s fantastic giant horse chestnut trees. Skilled and friendly instructors will teach you how to climb up into the tree canopy using ropes, knots and karabiners. When you reach the top you’ll see a view only a few people ever get to enjoy.

Summer days out
Or why not simply set off to explore the gardens, build a den in the woods, take on a bug hunt or discover the dressing up room in the manor. Add in lunch in the cafe or a picnic in the orchard and you’re set for a fantastic day out this summer.
