Enjoying the last weeks of Autumn

Trees in the parkland in autumn colours

As the days get darker and the weather gets colder, come to Ickworth to admire the changing colours and warm up in the comfort of our Cafes.

Ickworth's autumnal colours continue to impress as the season moves into the winter months. Before that though, October offers plentiful treats for visitors across the estate.

Keep the children busy this October half term with crafts in the West Wing Gallery. Get creative with Halloween and Autumn themed crafts. Create a new bat bookmark to accompany your bedtime reading. Explore the outdoors collecting conkers from the Albana trees and finish off the day with a warming hot chocolate.

Time travel with our Living History day in October - the shooting season is in full swing, which means little free time during the day in the servants quarters. Several invited guests require attention from the footmen and butler to ensure they are appropriately dressed for the outing.

Many have also brought their own servants with them, so the Housemaids are prepping apple pie beds for the evening. With many more mouths to feed, the finishing kitchen is a hive of activity. Kitchen staff are preparing large baskets and hay boxes for hot steamed pudding lunches out on the estate, as well as making sandwiches for the beaters later in the day.
