Welcome to the great outdoors. Ightham Mote's garden and estate, covering 546 acres of the Kent countryside, is perfect for completing some of your 50 things to do before you're 11 ¾.

Whether you're used to being outdoors, or are just beginning to explore, this list of 50 things to do before you're 11 ¾ is a great starting block.   There's something for all ages and abilities, but it's only a starting point as we're sure you have your own ideas for creating outdoor adventures.

Come rain or shine

On a rainy day, grab your wellies, and an umbrella, and tick off No.6 go welly wandering, and with everything so squelchy, it's also the perfect time for No.13 make a mud creation. But don't be put off going for a walk.


Adventurer's expedition

On the estate, it's easy to complete No.28 climb a huge hill - the green walk has a really nice one. If you're really quiet, and stand really still for a while, you should be able to complete No.44 watch a bird. For the really adventurous, there's No.31 make friends with a bug.


Have you ever wanted to join a band?

Why not create your own natural orchestra and tick off No.25 join nature's band. Look out for wide grasses to play a grass trumpet, or how about using logs as drums?  What other ideas can you come up with?


There's nothing quite like messing about in a river

When it's hot and sunny, take a trip to the natural play area where you can tick off No.14 dam a stream, but don't forget to remove the dam afterwards otherwise you can't tick off No.19 play pooh sticks.


Woodland wonder

Will you be the next Richard Long, Richard Shilling, Walter Mason or Lorenzo Duran? These artists like No.18 create some wild art - what about you? What wonder can you create from nature?

Whatever the season you can complete No.30 go on a scavenger hunt. Create your list before you start and see who can find everything first. You don't have to collect things, you could tick them off with your own I-spy, or photograph each item on your list. 

Come late summer, look out for blackberries so you can tick off No.21 forage for wild food.


Sticks are fun

To complete No.12 have fun with sticks you could set a trail for someone to follow, or create a game of pick up sticks. Or perhaps complete two challenges togerher and use them for No.4 build a den.
