Easter at Ilam Park

Walk through the wild garlic at Ilam Park

This Easter there are lots of family adventures to be had at Ilam Park and Dovedale. From orienteering to self guided trails, whatever the weather you can explore outdoors and see the signs of spring.

This Easter holiday there are lots of things to do as a family in the White Peak. There is no need to book in advance, just come along and join in the fun.

  • Spring Discovery Trail at Ilam Park

Use the trail map to hunt for clues and challenges hiding in the woods at Ilam Park. Along the way you can spot the smelly wild garlic, count the lambs and make a daisy chain. Available throughout April (except for the bank holiday weekend) from 11am to 5pm daily. £1 per trail sheet. Dogs on leads welcome to join in.
  • Cadbury Egg Hunt at Ilam Park

This Easter weekend, join us at Ilam Park for an adventure with a delicious Cadbury chocolate treat at the end. Using your special map search for clues hiding in the park and spot the signs of spring along the way. There is a shorter version available for toddlers. £3 per child. All proceeds from the Cadbury Egg Hunt go directly towards looking after Ilam Park. Dogs on leads welcome to join in.
  • Orienteering at Ilam Park

Available daily, our family friendly orienteering course is ideal for complete beginners and is a fun way to exercise, explore outdoors and try something new. The map is available to buy at the shop for £1.50 and the course takes around an hour to complete, depending on how fast you walk or run. Dogs on leads are welcome to join in.
  • Cross the stepping stones in Dovedale

A family favourite; the stepping stones in Dovedale valley are very popular with children and after crossing the stones you may choose to continue your walk along the River Dove where you'll spot limestone caves, huge rock pinnacles towering above you, and the fascinating money trees beside the footpath.
You can walk across the fields from Ilam Park to Dovedale, where you'll pass lambs and have great views across the area.
