Get a taste for Killerton's mulled cider

Every autumn at Killerton, the apples are collected by hand, and squeezed by a 200 year-old press. The apple juice collected is then bottled to create Killerton’s cider, which takes it’s unique flavour from apple varieties such as Killerton Sweet, Killerton Sharp, Star of Devon and even Slack Ma’ Girdle.

As tangy and tasty as they are already, why not enjoy a Killerton cider with a twist?

•    750ml of Killerton’s Medium Dry Cider (1 bottle)
•    ½ tsp of ground ginger
•    ½ tsp of ground nutmeg
•    ½ a cinnamon stick
•    2 cloves
•    50g of caster sugar
•    50ml of Cider Brandy – Calvados/Pomona (optional)


Begin by adding ground ginger, ground nutmeg, a cinnamon stick and 2 cloves to a muslin bag. Boil your cider on a medium setting on the hob, and add the muslin bag to infuse the flavour. Whilst this is simmering, combine the caster sugar with hot water until it forms a syrup, then add to the pan. Keep testing and leave to infuse according to taste. You can also add brandy at any stage to add to the flavour.
