Volunteering opportunities at Leith Hill Place
We're always on the look-out for new members to join our team here at Leith Hill Place. Do you have a hidden talent to share? Maybe you’re looking for a new challenge? Or perhaps you simply want to be involved in sharing the childhood home of Ralph Vaughan Williams with our visitors, surrounded by music and history, and a spectacular view. Find out more about the volunteering opportunities available here at Leith Hill Place.
We have plenty of volunteering opportunities at Leith Hill Place, so whatever your interests and whatever time you have to spare, we would love to hear from you.
Do you see yourself doing some baking, welcoming visitors at the front desk or helping our bakers in the kitchen? Only partially restored, Leith Hill Place isn’t a typical National Trust experience. We like to offer our visitors a homely, relaxed and warm welcome.
It wouldn’t be possible for us to provide this experience without the support of our dedicated volunteers and we have several different ways for volunteers to get involved. Click on the title to open the job description for each role:
This role is important as you are the first person each visitor meets. The role involves greeting our visitors and explaining to them what is available on their visit, as well as checking membership cards, handling cash and record keeping.
This role involves baking and preparing homemade cakes and scones in the kitchen. You need to be comfortable with people watching you bake. Our scones and cream teas are becoming well known locally, but if you have a family recipe or a favourite cake recipe you would like to bake, we would be delighted offer it to our visitors.
This role involves welcoming our customers into our friendly kitchen, helping them to food and drink, and supporting the baker.
If you enjoy working in the garden, you will be welcome to join our gardening team. We have a small courtyard garden which is always in need of some light garden work.
To apply for a volunteer role please either email us or to speak to us about it, please call us on 01306 711685 (messages may not be picked up every day).
The house has now closed for 2017, so we'll be looking for new volunteer help when we re-open in March 2018. Please do get in touch and we can keep you on a waiting list to be contacted in the spring.
