After hours in Cheshire

Fancy winding down somewhere beautiful after a busy day? We’ve got the perfect places and spaces to chill out before sundown this summer. Please check closing times at each venue.

Fawn taking a drink

Dunham Massey

Enjoy a peaceful wander through the parkland or a gentle evening jog. Avenues of trees dotted with red deer stretch away into the distance, and there’s plenty of time to unwind before the park closes at 7.30pm.

View of Manchester and the Cage from Lyme, Cheshire

Lyme

Bring an evening picnic to have at Lyme in the sunshine – the Cage is a great place to sit and take in the views across Manchester. If you’re feeling energetic you could go for a run or a bike ride through the estate. Main gates close automatically at 8pm, and pedestrian gates are manually locked, so make sure you leave enough time to pack up the blanket and get to the exit.

Snow clings to the trees and fields at Alderley Edge Cheshie

Alderley Edge and Cheshire Countryside

There’s time for an early evening stroll at Alderley Edge (note the car park closes at 6pm, though the site is open dawn to dusk). This dramatic sandstone escarpment is the perfect place to wind down as you wander through the glorious beech woods, listening to birdsong, and enjoying breathtaking views across the Cheshire Plain.

A family walking

Explore the beautiful estate at Quarry Bank

Catch the sounds of summer with a stroll to the Mill weir at Quarry Bank. Here, the River Bollin cascades down on its journey through the Bollin Valley as it’s done for centuries, powering this Georgian cotton mill at the heart of the Industrial Revolution. Download our walks leaflet for strolls through the Northern and Southern Woods – just right for a summer evening.
