There's plenty in store to get the family outside in the fresh air this May half-term in and around East Sussex. Walk in the footsteps of the characters from the Just So stories at Batemans or follow the journey of a young knight in training at Bodiam castle. Try nature themed crafts at Smallhythe Place or discover more about the Children of Scotney at Scotney Castle. When you spend time together in the outdoors, you help us care for places inside out.

Half-term adventure at Scotney 

Come on an adventure to Scotney this May half-term. Join a guided family walk or pick up a trail all about the children of Scotney and what they got up to in their holidays. The trail is available from reception and walks are twice daily from Sat 26 May- Sun 3 Jun, normal admission applies.

Bateman's 

This half-term discover more about Kipling's famous 'Just So' stories. Listen to our storytellers as they bring the tales to life in our special storytelling tent and enjoy exploring the garden with our 'Just So' trail. Collect the answers and claim your prize. Trail costs £2.50 and runs Sat 26 May-Sun 17 Jun, normal admission applies.

Bodiam Castle 

Have fun with our John Drawbridge, knight in training half-term trail. Enjoy the challenges faced by budding knights of old and claim your prize when you've completed them. Trail costs £2.50 and runs Sat 26 May-Sun 17 Jun, normal admission applies.

May half-term at Smallhythe Place

Get creative with our nature-themed arts and crafts for younger visitors in the cow byre or bring your older children and teenagers to experience a performance in our historic theatre. Craft workshops take place from Wed 30 May - Fri 1 Jun from 2-4pm. Theatre performances take place on Sat 26 May, Fri 1 Jun & Sat 2 Jun. Prices vary.
