Summer micro-adventures for teens in Bucks and Berks

Keeping teens entertained in the summer holidays is a challenge. Actually, that's not quite true, they can happily while away many an hour on their devices. How different they become, though, if we can entice them out into the fresh air.

There's something about being in big green spaces that allows them to relax and be free, allowing you to glimpse both the children they once were and the grown-ups they'll become. Enjoy this time with them.

There’s a fantastic challenge at Stowe for teen fans of mind games and escape rooms. With teamwork and combined brain power, the groups have to travel back in time to solve the The Secrets of Stowe - the mystery of an abandoned garden, before it is lost forever. Will Stowe survive in their hands?

Rowing at Cliveden Reach on the River Thames.

Families can join a skippered cruise or hire a rowing or self-drive motor boat to explore one of the prettiest spots on the river at Cliveden. There's also a giant maze to solve and an active trail in the woodlands. You're never too cool to enjoy a rope swing.

Waddesdon is open Wednesday to Sunday in the summer holidays. There's a mown maze to explore beyond the parterre, or a summer of sport where teens can try croquet or golf. And if that doesn't get them out, there's always the promise of ice cream sundaes in the Treaterie.
