'Lymescapes: a celebration of the landscape'

Visit Lyme this winter and see how the beautiful landscape has inspired artists and photographers throughout the centuries as part of the exhibition ‘Lymescapes: a celebration of the landscape’.

This summer Lyme hosted two of the heats for Sky Arts ‘Landscape Artist of the Year’. Dozens of artists took part, creating very different interpretations of the landscape around them.

Visit the exhibition this winter to see all the artwork from the heats on display as well as the work created by the semi-finalists and finalists, once the episodes air on Sky Arts. There will also be the opportunity to see artwork from Lyme's collection never before seen by the public.

Inspiring for centuries

The woodland, moor and meadows at Lyme have long inspired artists but did you know that so many of the wonderful views across the estate were designed by the Legh family to make the most of the beautiful countryside? Find out more about the lines of sight in the park, join guided walks to view them for yourself  and see where in the park visitors most like to take in the scenery.
