Christmas at Mompesson House 2017
This year you're invited to explore 'The Christmas House' and experience Christmas through the ages. Each ground floor room has a different theme, focusing on a different period of history and the characters who lived at Mompesson at that time.
In the dining room it's 1710 and the table is set for a traditional Christmas meal including lobster, roast chicken, artichokes, bread, cheese, fruit and biscuits.
We move to 1810 in the large drawing room with a Georgian Christmas.
In the small drawing room we're celebrating a Victorian Christmas complete with a Victorian Christmas tree and paper chains.
In honour of our 40th anniversary year, the library has been decorated in 1970s-style.
There's also a fun festive trail for children.
This year for the first time you can go upstairs and view the preventative conservation work that goes on behind the scenes during winter and our 40th anniversary exhibition 'New beginnings: The story of the National Trust at Mompesson House'.
In the garden tea-room we're serving delicious mince pies and mulled wine. Our 1950s inspired shop is the perfect place to do some Christmas shopping with a range of gifts for your family and friends.
The Christmas House is open from Saturday 25 November to Sunday 17 December, Thursday to Sunday, between 11am and 3.30pm. We look forward to welcoming you to our Christmas celebrations.
